Antique Wicker Chair

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

My hubby and I purchased an old farm house that is over one hundred years of age. Through the years the house has been added on to and remodeled.

One of the finest things they did was build a large gazebo in the front porch overlooking the lake. The gazebo has combo windows, lights, a ceiling fan and an electrical space heater.

I assumed it was going to be great fun to furnish the space. When we settled into the remainder of the house we made a decision that we’d focus on decorating the gazebo. I was thinking that an antique wicker furniture would be nice in the space. The gazebo is enclosed by evergreen flower gardens so that the setting is terribly pretty. I believed wicker chair would complete the conventional sense of the setting. We made a decision that we might compromise and look for a table and chairs in wicker.

We looked for a  wicker furniture ; however it was white and had bright coloured cushions. It wouldn’t fit our gazebo. The clerk expounded it wasn’t, however she probably did mention that we would wish to check at an antique furniture store. She explained that brown wicker furniture was very hip about 80 years back. She suspected that person might be ready to let us know where to discover a set. There had been a round table with a tile top that would nicely seat four people. There were four matching chairs for the table, as well as two high backed side chairs. The owner of the store was organizing the set in the window when we walked in. He explained that he had sent it out for repairs and had just gotten it back.

He was putting it in the window as he had no room left in his store. We acquired it and placed it in the gazebo. It is superb.
